Adele Thorpe

P&S Instructor

Adele has always felt a strong connection between her love of moving and creating and her love for Jesus. Dancing has always been a way of expressing something within her that words could not, a way to embody her prayers and worship. Her childhood was filled with dance schools and dance shows but her favourite pastime was choreographing and sharing dance pieces on Sundays alongside her dads preaches. This love of creating and moving continued to grow as Adele went on to Surrey University to study BA (Hons) Dance in Society where she was able to explore the place dance holds within Christian Worship for her dissertation. After her degree, she completed a PGCE in Secondary Dance Education.  Adele has taught dance in the community at youth and art centres, primary and secondary schools and has held the position of Dance Development Worker at ArtsNK, she then moved on to become Head of Dance at a local performing arts school.  After taking time to enjoy being at home with her two gorgeous children, Adele returned to education as a primary school teacher for a few years and recently returned to teaching movement in the community. In teaching Psalms & Stretches, Adele is looking forward to partnering with the Holy Spirit to create a space where people feel safe to come exactly as they are, for them to be able to celebrate, move and nurture their fearfully and wonderfully made bodies and make room to meditate and soak in the truth of God's living word.
